| Due to pressure
from the BBC, I have been forced to cease the posting and distribution of the Lord of the
Rings Radio Dramatization. As I mentioned in the preceding paragraph, I do not
condone piracy, but I do think that one should be allowed to hear a sample before
purchasing. That was my reasoning behind offering those files. I don't see how
downloading mp3's of the production from a website would be any different than recording a
radio broadcast of the same production, which incidently is currently playing every
Saturday on BBC UK radio and on streaming Internet radio. Obviously, the system of offering free downloads of copyrighted
material only works on honor, and so I understand and respect the BBC's wishes that the
mp3's of their production be taken off the site. However, I do hope that the
regulations regarding the electronic distribution of MP3's (especially non-music, import
MP3's) are changed to accomodate the best interests of consumers. |
